Content is king but how much time do we devote to creating good, informative content on our website? If you have ever helped someone with a new website you will have seen the 'last minute content storm' in action.
A client will have great ideas on what they want their website to do. Features galore but then when it comes near to the launch, planning for content updates seems to be a little...sparse.
Writing good content can be lengthy and you need it to:
- Help you get indexed be search engines
- Inform your visitors and keep them coming back
You need to engage with your customer. Keep them enthralled. Keep them informed. Keep them coming back. Not only do you satisfy them, you build up respect for your website by the search engines and find new visitors.
Challenge for web content writing
Other than having a web content strategy, you will need to break the mindset that a web page is like a printed page. In the mobile world your content will be flexible and will not live in just one part of the page.
When I design a web page for my clients, I try to break up the page into sections and whilst each section can be edited, the sections will move to new locations depending on the size of the device being used.
